| Sheldon Green arrives in Hollywood with a videotape of his college film project under his arm, hoping to become a movie director. Unable to break into the movie business—or even have his calls returned—he first sells copy-machine toner and then limited partnerships in parking lots while learning the basics of the three-act structure. He is in the right place at the right time when opportunity—in the human form of a three-time-divorced, down-on-his-luck B-movie producer—finally knocks. A contemporary satire, 16 Bananas is about making movies and about making money, though not necessarily in that order.
